Antiquities

Objects from antiquity range from the most luxurious and valuable objects to the common materials that are considered worthless by men in the past. All of these are presently called antiquities. Though their values today still vary and may depend on their original values in the past, they are valuable enough today because of their age and unique histories. In addition, many historians and archeologists collect antiquities in order to understand the past.

The most valuable antique collections of today are objects from the early civilizations of the Ancient Egypt, Mediterranean, and Asian. Objects and artifacts from the Ancient Eastern cultures and the Mesolithic period are collected as well. Objects from these eras and cultures are probably worth millions, even if the object is just a simple plate or furniture. Moreover, these objects and artifacts usually go to museums and other similar institutions upon discovery. Because of their rarity, most objects are not being sold.

On the other hand, the term antiquities are often met with confusion as scholars claim that not all vintage objects may be considered as antiquities. In fact, the term cover objects that existed from a certain period in the past. Particularly, antiquities are the objects from the dawn of civilization to the 12th century, according to many experts. These objects are extremely valuable and protected.
